General donations are a vital part of CF & CF’s ability to offer hope, love and a changed future to abandoned children. Anyone can make a general donation to Children’s Food & Care Fund by writing a check or money order and mailing it to our postal address shown at the top of the page. Or, if you prefer, you can use our online giving program—it’s fast, easy and secure.
There are two significant benefits to you, the donor, in making this kind of gift. In most instances, you are entitled to deduct the full market value of the stock from your taxes. You also can avoid paying capital gains taxes on the appreciated securities.
Either you or your broker contact Children’s Food & Care Fund to inform us of your intention of making a gift of stocks. We will ask you to provide the following information:
Your name, address and telephone number
The name(s) of the stock that you are donating
The number of shares being donated
The simplest way to make a gift of stock to Children’s Food & Care Fund is through your broker. Most brokers can transfer the stock directly to Children’s Food & Care Fund. We will provide your broker with the needed information to make the transfer. If you prefer to send the actual stock certificates, please contact Children’s Food & Care Fund as well as your broker before sending the certificates since donation of stock certificates requires a special form to ensure that the transfer is accomplished correctly.
If you have stock that has gone down in value, you can still support Children’s Food & Care Fund. To maximize your benefit, sell the stock and contribute the proceeds to Children’s Food & Care Fund. In most cases, you can then receive a tax deduction and a capital loss deduction. To ensure that you qualify for this program, please consult your financial advisor about this and other tax–related matters.
There are numerous planned giving options that can have profound tax implications benefiting both your estate and Children’s Food & Care Fund. We strongly encourage you to consult with a financial advisor and/or tax attorney.

To participate in the Combined Federal Campaign, Children’s Food & Care Fund must meet requirements set forth by the federal government and must belong to a federation.
Each charity within the Children’s Charities of America federation has fulfilled specific criterial for membership, including a stringent legal and financial review. If you are a federal employee, or know someone who is, it’s easy to support the work of Children’s Food & Care Fund by designating your workplace contribution to Children’s Food & Care Fund, #11127 in the CFC.
Workplace campaigns, such as the United Way, corporate, or state employee campaigns, are convenient ways of supporting the work of Children’s Food & Care Fund. Many employers conduct workplace fund drives to encourage their employees to support worthy causes. Through the convenience of payroll deduction, donors can spread their contribution across an entire year. Most campaigns will allow you to designate your donation to your favorite organization. Children’s Food & Care Fund has registered with most United Way campaigns, and with the Combined Federal Campaign for federal employees.
