How do I make a gift of stock to Children’s Food & Care Fund?

Either you or your broker contact Children’s Food & Care Fund to inform us of your intention of making a gift of stocks. We will ask you to provide the following information:

Your name, address and telephone number
The name(s) of the stock that you are donating
The number of shares being donated

The simplest way to make a gift of stock to Children’s Food & Care Fund is through your broker. Most brokers can transfer the stock directly to Children’s Food & Care Fund. We will provide your broker with the needed information to make the transfer. If you prefer to send the actual stock certificates, please contact Children’s Food & Care Fund as well as your broker before sending the certificates since donation of stock certificates requires a special form to ensure that the transfer is accomplished correctly.

If you have stock that has gone down in value, you can still support Children’s Food & Care Fund. To maximize your benefit, sell the stock and contribute the proceeds to Children’s Food & Care Fund. In most cases, you can then receive a tax deduction and a capital loss deduction. To ensure that you qualify for this program, please consult your financial advisor about this and other tax–related matters.
