There are 20 girls and 12 boys under its legal guardianship. Mendies Haven has been in operation since 1967, rescuing hundreds of destitute children, many of whom have grown up to be solid Nepali citizens holding responsible professional positions—nurses, teachers, mechanics and electricians, as well as pastors of new Christian churches.

Nepal

Children’s Food & Care Fund supported the ministry of Child Hope International, which operates 20 group homes in Nepal caring for 150 abandoned boys and girls. In this unique program, destitute children are rescued from the streets, dumps, and jungles and placed with local Christian families who actually adopt them and raise them in group homes as their own. Basic needs of shelter, food, medical care, and schooling are provided. Each child grows up in a warm, loving family environment and begins to realize their true worth. Eighteen of the homes are located in various sections of Kathmandu, and the other two are in the far western part of the country. The program also pays tuition for 25 students to pursue higher education.
